3/8" Steel is the best!! That's why we use only 3/8" steel. You may ask yourself, "Why don't more people use it?" The answer is easy: Cost and Weight. It costs more and its very heavy. Making it much more difficult to work with and fabricate. Just because its more difficult doesn't mean we should compromise. We will not compromise on this point. 3/8" Steel creates better smokers and will create better Smoked meats everytime!!

Smoke is the Key to a great Smoker. A Bigger smoke box provides more smoke and provides you the best foundation for better smoking.
The other components of the smoker all function better only with the right volume of smoke and heat.

All our smokers will come with 2 professional grade temperature gauges. This ensures consistency in temperatures within the cooking chamber. Consistency in cooking only comes from consistency in temperature control.

Our priorities God, Family, Smoking. Schmitz Pits - Big Texas Smokers was started like many small businesses with a hobby. Twenty years ago I started off staying up all night smoking butts and briskets. Soon I realized all the store bought smokers are not sufficient to provide the quality, consistency, and smoke area to feed an army. We moved to Texas and the hobby grow enough that I started building my own smoker. Through some trials and errors over the years we have landed on the exact specifications that create these signature SCHMITZ PITS smokers.
